shooting for other photographers
Nerve wracking, right?
But at the same time so cool because you know they value your work if they asked you to photograph their family. Right?
Or they won a contest on your blog that they read and you were in their neighborhood that weekend, so it would work. HA! Which is true in this case, but I think she kind of likes me, too. Afterall, she did hire me to photograph their wedding.
Doesn't matter. I'm still busting my butt in the Dallas heat to make sure she has some kick butt images of her beautiful family.
This is Emily Alexander. She's a photographer in the Dallas area and a beautiful model, no? I always try to visit her and "talk shop" when I'm in town and about a month or so ago, I was. So, get this. It was so hot we DROVE literally ONE BLOCK instead of walking so we could snag some of this gorgeous sun. But Jonathan, her handsome hubby, kept me refreshed, and the kids kept me entertained, and these pictures turned out too cute.
Thanks, Emily.

PS more thoughts and pretty pictures below.
I think this one is my favorite. Several reasons, but mainly because that kid on the bottom of the frame? William? OMGOSH! I would soooooo be his girlfriend if we were in kindergarden together. Who am I fooling, I'd be his girlfriend now! He's so sweet and polite and a good runner and just
C U T E!!!!
Emily, hug him and smooch those cheeks for me today.
Okay, another reason I love this? And fellow photographers will understand this reason better than anyone. HELLO! How hard is it to get ALL THE EYES LOOKING AT THE CAMERA? Huh? How dang hard?
Very. And everyone is and everyone looks very happy.
Okay, now that I look at it again, Louie, the cute baby on dad's shoulders? I think he's looking at my feet. But that's because I was doing the most kick butt dance moves on grass anyone has ever seen! OH, yeah! Big Momma can dance!!!!
Emily will vouch for me.
It's so important to just photograph Mom and Dad during this time. Yes, kids change, but they do, too. And plus, we had a wide open area for the kids to run and wiggle while we worked it and relaxed in that heat. Okay, THEY relaxed, I worked it. LOL
Okay, I threw in the above photo because if things are getting hard, I have the family scream and usually, USUALLY the parents barely do it and the kids do and the second the screaming stops you get friendly faces for the camera. You know, relaxed smiles. Which we did and I'm not sharing here. I need something to surprise Emily with. But I'm laughing looking at these because the kids are thinking...
"What the cheezeballs? We are out here in the heat, sweating our socks off and why are they screaming in my ear? Wow. Can you scream stupid? Because that's how we look right now."
Look at Louie's face and read that sentence again. Just do it.
He's further thinking...
"All those days in that dang basket at Target, I'm screaming because LADY, we are in the food aisle and I'm hungry and you shush me. What? It's OKAY to scream in my ear here? And now you've got my bro doing it? HELLO crazy people!!!!"
But when you get this. When you get a shot like this, it makes it worth it. All that screaming, and crazy dancing WORTH IT!
Love you, Alexander Family!!!!!
