What the heck is documentary photography?
A documentary photographer simply documents your wedding day and tells your story through a visual interpretation of the day. The majority of your photographs will be candid, REAL MOMENTS that are not contrived or “set up” to say. The moments will be emotional and instantly take you back to that moment in time, that day and you will FEEL the moments, your wedding day, all over again. Does that make sense? I sure hope it does. Because the difference means a TON to me. Here are a couple of visuals from Camille and Luke’s wedding day.
They were married in a private, intimate ceremony with their closest family and just a couple of friends, fur included on a few. We took some time during the day to make a few formal images. You know the ones, who stand by the bride and groom and smile? And those images are so important. Not just for you now, but more for your children and their children. These images are IMPORTANT. And I gladly take them.
But then, there are those images from the same day that really touch your soul. Like this one below…
Camille’s sister, Laura Rose, had been getting ready with her all day. Camille got in her gown, put on her veil, and Laura Rose in that moment, felt EVERYTHING all at once. Her sister was simply stunning, yes, but she was also really getting married and their lives would never be the same. Yes, she would still have her sister, but gosh! It’s REAL and she’s getting married. This image is one that tells such a story that the first image, though lovely, can not. That is what draws me into photographing weddings.
REAL moments between REAL people in love.
