the one wth a rehearsal at McPherson Cellars

The lyrics of Etta James, "At Last" are still playing in my head. Chelsey and Trey have been dating since 8th grade. And last night was the start of their WEDDING WEEKEND! They are getting married at FUMC downtown today and I'm heading out to a luncheon with the girls this morning, but first I wanted to share some images from last night's rehearsal.

We started at the church, of course, and I ran into Amanda from Red Frame Photography, but you know how you think you know them from "cyber world" but you aren't sure so you don't say anything? Yep. One of those moments for both of us. She was photographing a wedding last night and I was photographing the rehearsal. FUMC can just roll that way.

Of course, there's so many pretty reasons to get married at First United Methodist. With one of my favorites being the stained glass. HELLO pretty! I just love being in that space when the sun is shining. GORGEOUS!

Chelsey and Trey are both pretty laid back. But talk about style! I've never seen Chelsey not look adorable, and last night was no exception. Trey, you are pretty great on the eyes, too.

Something I don't like about FUMC is that during the ceremony, we are not allowed to get shots like the above ones of the vows. It's sad really, because I'm nothing but respectful during ceremonies and church times and just wish we could have the chance. Maybe if we sign a waiver or something. Or give a deposit stating how we'll hide in the choir loft, ninja style.

So I have to get all these cute shots at the rehearsal, which is fine. But golly. And of course, all the nooks and crannies like the shot below are another reason I love this church. They almost make up for my depression over not being allowed to photograph faces during the ceremony. Almost...

The Horkey's hosted us at the McPherson Cellars in downtown Lubbock. Total YUM and the space is AWESOME to shoot! I love working with that lighting and walls and textures and EVERYTHING in that place.

The evening moved along nicely with nothing but love for the couple. Sure, there were some fun toasts, but overall these families must be so proud that they raised such great kids! I heard so many wonderful things said about them both. Just a great evening!

Okay, tears. At least from me and some others in the crowd. When Chelsey and Trey got up to give their speeches, Chelsey said she didn't want to do the ugly cry. And she didn't. The girl's a class act. But when Trey started talking about his family? Oh, gosh...it was so touching. He did a fantastic job of feeling the words and in my book, that makes him ultra sexy and definitely ready for marriage. Well done!

Thank you, Horkey Family for hosting a wonderful evening, and to Chelsey's family? I can't wait for today!!!!

The shot is Kathy, the mother of the groom, and her family. She created the slideshow for the night and I have to give her a shout out. HELLO! I know how hard and time consuming these things are and she did it with such class and style! No cheesy transitions, beautiful music and just the right amount of embarrasing photos. (personally my favorite part of the slideshow process) Well done, Kathy!
