Summer's 14th Birthday

Summer Zoe turns 14 tomorrow but had her birthday party on Wednesday and invited all her friends. I was worried. I have to admit. I know how dramatic and emotional a group of teenagers can be. Afterall, we threw Kalyn Marie a surprise party shortly after we moved in and I was EXHAUSTED after. And with that one, I had help. Tremendous help from Kalyn's friends and Shelley!!! This one? Riding solo baby, so can I do it? What if they get bored? (as if!) or what if what we cook they hate? What if they notice we don't have a yard, and instead are breeding tumbleweeds in the back yard? What if? What if?

All that worry was such a waste because they came, they chatted, they laughed, they loved and they had such a great time! And I think my favorite part of the day, was all the planning with Summer Zoe. She made her lists and woke up early and we headed out for our day! It was so much fun. And yes, exhausting!

Here she is with our MASTERPIECE! Oh, my gosh! PEOPLE, the frosting has 4 boxes of cream cheese and not that fat free crap kind either. 4 boxes!!!! Can you say, HEAVEN! Sure, I'll help you frost it baby! It was pure heaven.

AND it came out rather cute, mind you. We aren't the cake boss, but baby, we try!

The table decor turned out so dang cute! Target had their summer stuff marked down to almost as cheap as paper goods, so since we are really trying to be more conscious of our wastefulness (no more bottled water or snack bags in lunches), we thought this would be the way to go. I love the colors and how bright and cheery it makes the back patio look. This is a BIG girl party! The girls will feel so dang special eating all together here!

Me and my girl! I always try to take a photo of the b-day girl with her parents each year. I fail miserably most of the time, but I'm trying. Still trying.

Poor DOG. She did pretty good for the first half, and then she came and found me and gave me that look of a CRAZED, TRIED BEAST. So, I put her in the garage to sleep it off. The dogs were exhausted from all the activity. They tried to keep up, packing the pool, chasing down balls, but they didn't last long.

She didn't want me to photograph her in her swimsuit. I told her when she is my age, she will worship this photo. A photo like this is a MUST HAVE. Beautiful b-day girl!

And I for sure wanted ALL the girls so I could blow this up HUGE when they are SENIORS. Yep. I'm embarrassing like that.

I wish blogs were scratch n-sniff. My hubby is the BEST SMOKER around. Not kidding. OM gosh! I could eat leather shoes straight off the grill, he cooks so good. Tonight? Burgers. I ate two. Seriously, and I don't even like burgers. But his are so dang good. He should cook every night. Notice the new shorts? Yep. The man is sporting 'em well. Of course he wouldn't get in the pool with the teenagers, but he still dressed the part.

Heather broke her foot in a bb game a couple of weeks ago, but the girls looked out for her to make sure she was OK.

Funny story. While we were opening gifts, someone hid the cake. This was in the span of maybe 1o minutes. and you can't just hide a cake anywhere. We have animals, the frosting could melt. It was like 4 feet tall with candles. You get the idea. But the girls all were wanting this cake, waiting on it. And we got up, went to the kitchen, and NO CAKE! HELLO! How does one hide a cake in front of 16 pairs of eyes? It happened. So a mad dash was made throughout the house, cabinets slamming, giggles and screams, until at last. SAID CAKE WAS FOUND ABOVE TOILET IN GUEST ROOM.

Devin decided to have some fun, I guess.

Found the cake, sang happy birthday, and baby made a wish. I wish I knew what it was so I could go out and get her gift. I have no idea. Nada.

Here's that bad boy in all it's glory. See all the colored layers? BEAUTIFUL!

The girls swam and wet dog laid on girls clothes. I'm so sorry. But he was tired, and it looked like a nice place.

The june bugs attacked around 10 so they all came back inside and texted parents, and thus the party ended. I was sweeping up those bad boys for quite some time. Both inside and out. YUCH. But it was worth it. Summer had a great party and enjoyed all her girlfriends and I got to eat cake with 4 BOXES of cream cheese frosting! That's a win in my book. cream cheese = sweeping june bugs

Happy Birthday, Summer Zoe!
