the one with flags from months ago
These pictures are from 911. You know how Lubbock puts all those flags out? Well, I thought they were fitting for today. It's Memorial Day and we are remembering those that died in service. Saturday, we buried Joe D. Heinrich. I've know him since I moved to Texas 25+ years ago. I remember seeing Genny, his bride, put flowers on graves after the graveside services. She carried some roses from his casket spray and placed them on graves all over the cemetery. I think they were people she knew, maybe family members? It made me think about what we could do to remember people on this day. I'm not crazy about the grave idea. I don't even want to be in a cemetery after I'm dead, let alone now. But maybe that's the point? Remembering those that dies before us isn't supposed to be easy. It's honoring them with our memories. So, maybe go to the gravesides and possibly photograph some of them? That might be a good way to spend part of the day. I'll think more on it and let you know. In the meantime, how are you celebrating this weekend?
Love Does,
Kristin
