the one with Keegan, LCHS Grad 2017
Keegan is a senior at Lubbock Cooper High School. I recently donated a Gift Certificate to a benefit for a little boy with cancer. Keegan's mom won the session and decided that her kid needed graduation pictures. I'm so glad she did, because I needed to photograph Keegan!
I'm such a voyeur of humans. I love dissecting their faces and their ticks and the things that make them unique creatures. We are all created so differently and crafted by His hand in such unique ways. It's kind of like a game for me. You know, let's figure out what makes this human special. I mean we all have eyes, body parts, etc. What makes this one different?
Right away, 2 minutes in, I noticed that Keegan can totally pull of "the squinch". You'll notice it in the photos I'm sharing here on this blog. And he does it without much coaching at all, I might add. He lost his cousin in a horrible accident a while ago, and in honor of her, he has a tattoo on his wrist. I really wanted to find a way to showcase that in his session because it's such a part of his life. And that sideways smile? Hello! I'm convinced it's because he incessantly chews on the inside of his lip.
Keegan brought along his friend, King to his session. I encourage grads to bring friends, family members, along for motivation, help, and extra set of hands. King did mighty fine holding my reflector to help bring in some interesting light to many of these images. Thank you, King! And despite the horrid mosquitos that night, overall it was a great night!
Please make sure you read through Keegan's Q + A. The questions are in bold, Keegan's answers follow and my commentary is in parenthesis.
