Lubbock Cooper Lady Pirates vs Shallowater Fillies

Kalyn played her last HOME BB GAME EVER last night as a Lady Pirate. She played all out and hustled like crazy, but it wasn't enough. We lost by one in overtime, which was HEART WRENCHING and awful and just left us with yucky tastes in our mouths. We then had to walk our daughters out on the court for Senior Night recognition. Oh, the joy! It was kind of a surreal moment for me. I've been photographing Cooper Sports for 6 years now and it was crazy for all of us to have JUST LOST THE DANG GAME BY ONE POINT and then have to line up over by the student section of Shallowater and hear "Ball Hog Ball Hog" over and over again, uttered while parents were screaming and trying to console crying girls. I just grabbed Kalyn's hand and we looked into each other's eyes and laughed. Laughed because it was silly really. She knew she played hard. She knew she made mistakes. She knew her team made mistakes. But it's not over. Sure, we lost one game and it happened to fall on Senior Night. But if you knew this Bednarz Family and all the crap that happens to us on the world's worst timing, we just have to roll baby. Just roll with it and like I blogged earlier, CHOOSE THE JOY. So we did. We smiled, held hands and chose the joy.
