A BIG win over Abilene Wylie

It was a beautiful day for basketball in West Texas yesterday! And walking into the gym, I felt good about our chances of beating Abilene Wylie. Last year we played them at their home court and it was awful. AWFUL. Coach talked about identity and last year we did NOT look like anything that resembled a Lady Pirate BB Team.

So, this year, coming off a hard game against Frenship, we were hoping for strong legs and strong hearts to go the distance. The did NOT disappoint! Cooper beat Abilene Wylie last night in a game filled with intense emotion and a lot of fouls.

The Lady Pirates strategy was simple. Stop Little.

She's a junior for the Bulldogs with plans to play for the University of Texas. She averaged 24 points a game in the play-offs, I read and it always exciting to watch an athlete of her ability play. I was excited to see the team again and how our girls would play against them.

Last night, AWESOME defense by Kalyn Bednarz and Tayla Mosser (woo hoo!) kept Little at close range, and even though she scored 18 points, we beat them!!! Kalyn stayed on her like CRAZY and despite not scoring much, and having 3 fouls, messed with Little's game enough to keep us in the lead. Very proud of her for that!!!

YES. There was lots of DRAMA during the game and much yelling and even a few technicals.

Kudos to Kaitlyn Vinson for hitting her free throws under pressure with EVERYONE looking at her. She played awesome! As did Miss Brittney Bednarz!!!! High scorer of the game. WOO HOO!

I'm so proud of these girls!!!

I looked for articles about the game, and of course, not much. There is a blurb in the paper this morning, but nothing in the Abilene area I could find.

Of course, I took photos and I played around with video some, but nothing I can share. Think out of focus and shaky. But I'll get better. Just like every game, the Lady Pirates get better!!!!

And the Freshman and JVer's won their games as well! Great way to go into our Holiday Break!

Happy Thanksgiving everyone!
