I'm all over the place blog wise

It's Basketball time! I'm not sure if you've noticed, but I'm all over the place blog wise. I can't stand blogging out of order, but it was a must due to everything going on in my life.

When someone dies, it puts me in a deep funk. I think it's because I never dealt with death and anyone I know dying until my Papaw died while I was in college. I shut down. I'm not sure what to say or how to think or even what to do.

My very best friend, Toni, lost her dad this week. She lost her mom the same time our family lost Elizabeth. It's so very hard to lose those you so love. Their memory becomes a fog and you can't really remember them like you want to.

Just the other day I was reading a story about Elizabeth and they person said how dang sharp and witty she was, and she was! She was THE BEST person to have on your side of a debate. So fun and sharp and sarcastic. I had forgotten that about her until this person mentioned it and I instantly felt a connection to Elizabeth I had not felt in quite some time. It felt great! It was then that I realized all anyone wants to do is talk about their loved one. Just talk and share memories and expeirences.

Randy Hays was the closest thing I know to a Santa. To hear the stories of his gift giving made me want to instantly leave my family and cling to his. INSTANTLY. He loved to shop for his family and went so overboard it was awful. Of course, I loved hearing all about it and seeing all the cool things he would give Toni over the years.

Randy was also his kids BIGGEST cheerleader. He would attend anything and everything and you could always count on him being there.

He will be missed.

For those blog readers that know Toni? His funeral is tomorrow. Message me for the details. I'll be there.

Now on to the games!!!

Monday night, Cooper hosted their season opener with a game against Lubbock High. Who just happens to have a new coach. Oh, yea. Breckenridge lost Coach Blaylock and he is now at Lubbock High. Hendrix is now at Slaton in an administrator position. Kinda funny how things change.

Despite some major improvements to the team, Lubbock High lost. But I will say, I've never seen them play like that in the 6 years I've been watching. Nice job Westererners!

Enjoy the photos, and as always, more photos at www.hookapirate.com.

Take care,

Kristin
