Under Pressure

Of course if you follow me on facebook, then you will already know the outcome of the game. But I've hesitated to share anything here for fear of jinxing us. I think I'm ready this morning to talk about it, let a little bit out and get my thoughts together before going into tonight's game.

Lubbock Cooper Lady Pirates are playing in the REGIONAL TOURNAMENT tonight. Two more games to win and we go to STATE. Typing those words out brings the bile in my stomach to the top and I'm already starting to feel nervous. If I feel this way, imagine the girls? YIPES!

Tuesday, my oldest, Kalyn Marie was under pressure on the free throw line to sink a shot that would put us in the lead. She had played so hard and so good against Levelland and just stuck like glue on defense. I knew she was giving it her all, and so much had to happen up to that point to get us there. So, when she got fouled and the crowd went wild, I went to my knees and got sick. SICK. I looked over at the bench to where Summer Zoe was sitting. She was brought up, one of 6 from JV to join this ride to STATE and when I caught her face in my lens, that was it. Mom was a goner.

A total goner nerve wise. I couldn't look at Kalyn. I pride myself on photo journalism and strive to "tell the story" each and every time I'm photographing and here I was on my knees, sick. I just kept my lens on the bench and let their faces tell the story instead.

Just have a look.

She made the shot, by the way.
